EQUINOX2 solar inverters in the hotel sector

A prestigious hotel chain has carried out an initial cascade installation of 13 solar inverters and a Salicru Smart Meter at its premises in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The multiple MPPT charge controllers will enable greater use to be made of the panels.

The company operates in 20 countries and has a portfolio of 100 hotels and 5 million customers per year. The uptake of 13 EQUINOX2 25 kW solar inverters with the overall monitoring provided by an SLC Energy Manager represents an important step towards sustainability and energy savings and will improve the company’s efficiency and competitiveness in a market that is increasingly aware of the importance of environmental responsibility.

Photovoltaic installations are becoming an increasing priority for companies, both for exclusive daytime use with on-grid installations, where the energy is utilised – or fed into the grid – during sunlight hours and for storage in batteries through hybrid inverters, which manage both the storage and sale of surplus energy, if available. For hotels, which are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, having solar power has a substantial direct impact on operating costs.

The tourism sector has long been committed to energy savings and sustainability. It’s a market that has called for Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems (UPS) to prevent supply interruption during blackouts, but also for variable frequency drives, which ensure an optimal control of electric motors, such as the pumps that channel the hotel’s water network to ensure all rooms have sufficient water pressure, regardless of the floor they’re on or how many taps are in use.
