The Ministry of Science and Innovation and leading energy and technology companies, research centres and institutions have created the Spanish Energy Efficiency Technological Platform (SPEETP). This is the first technological platform at either a Spanish or a European level to work in this area with a "transversal" approach.

The institutions involved have begun their work in order to strengthen the capabilities and R+D+I of all the technologies related to energy efficiency. In order to achieve more thorough results, working groups have been created which deal with all aspects of these technologies (technical, management, social and regulation). Together with Gas Natural, Salicru is co-ordinating the working group responsible for Energy Efficiency in Facilities.

With this initiative, they hope to take maximum advantage of resources, avoid overlapping, implement energy efficiency standards, and include Spanish talent and its R+D+I in the various international projects that are taking place in this field.

After its first meeting, the SPEETP hopes to announce in the near future details such as a Location and Capacities Map in R+D+I and an initial strategic overview document which will outline the areas for action.

Companies including Endesa, Unión Fenosa, Applus+, Circutor, Iberdrola, Creara, Gas Natural, HC Energía, Salicru, Telvent, Emte, Kromschroeder, Simón, Soler & Palau and Agbar are participating in this platform, as are public institutions.
