Being immersed in such a competitive sector from the point of view of technology, Salicru requires tools to give it leading technological development around the world. In order to offer products that always adapt best to customer requirements, Salicru continuously researches and innovates, devoting an average 4% a year of its turnover to investment in R&D.
As part of this strategy, the R&D department recently purchased a high-performance thermal simulator called CF Design®, a tool used for heat and flow analysis that enables the simulation of the thermal behaviour of the ventilation systems designed for an electronic unit during its design phase. This complements the CAD 3D mechanical Pro/Engineer design program, which was already used by the company's engineers in designing new prototypes.
Its main advantages are: compatibility with the Pro/Engineer system, as no exportation is required to other graphic formats; the automatic installation of a launcher in the Pro/Engineer application; automatic volume detection; an intuitive interface in analysing results and very fast in assigning parameters (materials, surfaces and initial conditions); a broad database of materials and thermal models; automatic generation of surface meshing; the possibility of sending the calculation process by network to a specialised server in order not to waste time or resources during the mechanical design; real-time viewing of the results of the calculation process; and the inclusion of comparative options in enabling a certain analysis to be repeated under different conditions to facilitate the decision-taking on the basis of the results.
The new software acquired by Salicru is designed by the North American company Blue Ridge Numerics, and according to its creators it allows savings of up to 65% in time and costs over analysis with physical prototypes.
