The Catalan and concerted public schools will have SALICRU UPS’s.

One of the bets in the Infrastructure Director Plan of the Catalonia Telecommunication is the Heura project, an initiative to endow all the educational centres and services with IT resources that depend from the Department of the Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia that don’t have structural cable. 
The role of Salicru in this project is to guarantee the energy to the communication servers that will connect each school with the Department of Education, and to protect the system from the electrical mains faults like dropouts and overvoltage, black outs among others. 

The project includes the selling and maintenance service of more than 500 equipments of 1500 VA in Rack format and it is foreseen to end the installation during the second semester of 2008. 

This infrastructure expanding is vital to foment the information and knowledge society into the educational environment because it allows the access to learning object bases, creating educative thematic communities and new communication channels between the faculty, pupils and families.
