The Zaragoza City Hall has entrusted Salicru to protect its traffic light network, both for vehicle traffic crossings and the tram lines. To date, one hundred SPS Traffic Light have been installed, a SPS 2000 Advance application, with an extra charger that enables the system to have four hours of Back Up time in the event of a power failure. Thus, traffic problems are avoided during blackouts; consequently, this has a positive impact on road safety.
Traffic in the city of Saragossa is currently regulated by traffic lights with LED technology. In comparison with the previous incandescent bulbs, this type of lights offers considerable advantages, both from the standpoint of road safety and in energy savings for the city. As a result, Saragossa has become one of the first major cities in Spain to incorporate this new technology into its traffic light network, which emits up to four times more light than the previous traffic lights.
Modern traffic light regulators adapted to the LED lights require a supply of high quality energy that can cope with unexpected power cuts, eventual power surges, short circuits, over-heating and fluctuations in the voltage. It is, in fact, this change in the lighting system that has allowed Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) to enter into the traffic light network; due to the fact that the new LED lights consume less, it is highly compatible with these systems. The advanced technology of the Salicru SPS Traffic Light series provides optimum protection to the traffic light network with LED technology.
In addition to Saragossa, other Spanish cities, such as Barcelona, Valencia and Alicante, have decided to change their traffic lights in favor of the combination of LED technology and Salicru UPS, not only for road safety and energy saving, as already mentioned, but also due to their environmental benefits. These light contribute to reducing CO2 being released into the atmosphere.
