There are many industrial processes in which voltage stability is essential: these include many applications in which numerical control processors and automatic controllers are responsible for ensuring the end result and all kinds of data centre, computer peripherals, transmission and communications systems, laboratory equipment, and so on. As a result, in today’s saturated and highly unstable electrical environment, where fluctuations in power supply voltage are becoming more frequent, voltage stabilisers play an essential role in ensuring voltage stability for loads that are particularly sensitive to these variations.
One of Salicru’s latest projects, which used this type of equipment, was a new stretch of Turkey’s high-speed railway, for which over 40 units of the company’s EMi2 series stabilisers were supplied to protect its control and signalling equipment. The line, which opened in March this year, links the cities of Eskisehir and Konya with trains now covering the 355-kilometre distance in two hours, compared to eight hours previously.
The Turkish government hopes to be able to introduce direct high-speed services between Eskisehir and Istanbul before the end of the year. Salicru’s EMi2 stabilisers provide a high current handling capacity, robustness in the event of prolonged overloads and accuracy in output voltage (up to +/-1%), all with a new, more compact and up-to-date look.
They also feature toroidal autotransformers as standard for the full range of power, which results in better performance and response speed, manual maintenance bypass and independent phase regulation. The rail industry has a wide variety of processes involving machinery that is highly sensitive to voltage variations. These loads, because of their power and highly reactive nature, need to be supplied by voltage regulators that are capable of coping with such demands.Salicru has extensive experience in protecting railways, as demonstrated by its participation in the Spain’s AVE Seville-Madrid-Barcelona-Figueres high-speed rail line and other similar projects carried out around the world.
