The last year has been marked by a widespread downturn of the markets and there has been obvious recession around the world, which has obviously also affected Salicru’s potential market and the sectors where it operates. However, bearing in mind the present situation, we can say that this has been a good year for the evolution of the company’s activity, for although the growth rate of recent years has not been seen, production and turnover have remained roughly the same, and have even increased on some markets in contrast to the general tone of a large number of industrial sectors in Spain.
One example of this tendency is the increase in sales in the British market, in which Salicru expects to close 2010 with a growth in turnover of 30%. This market accounts for 8% of the overall exports of the Catalan company.
In this market, Salicru has for fourteen years had the experience and know how of its official distributor, Powerworks Ltd.. This company started up in 1997, marketing the Salicru product range from the beginning, in order to supply UPS and other power electronics equipment to the British market. Since then, Powerworks has installed around a thousand UPS of over 5 kVA in the country and has gained a reputation for its professionalism in service and technical assistance.
With a staff of 22, Powerworks offers a comprehensive service from planning and design to project management and construction and installation of integral solutions meeting the specific needs of their customers for safe, eco-efficient energy. It now has a portfolio that includes leading companies in their respective sectors such as Cisco Systems, Astra Zeneca, Lilly, Gillette, IKEA, Fujitsu and Honda UK, the local administration and the British ambulance service, amongst others.
