Salicru guarantees stable, continuous and reliable power supply to six Mexican hospitals

Thursday, 13 january 2011

In the last half of 2010, Salicru supplied more than twenty Uninterruptible Power Supply systems (UPS) to six Mexican hospitals, three forming part of the Mexican Social Security Institute (Instituto Mexicano de Seguro Social - IMSS) and the other three run by the Social Security Institute of the State of Mexico and Municipalities (Instituto de Seguridad Social del Estado de México y Municipios - ISSEMYM). Salicru’s long trajectory in the American country and its awareness of the international health market was a guarantee for these two Mexican health institutions, which confided in the Catalan company to protect the power in their facilities.

The IMSS is the institution which gives Social Security services to 70% of the 110 million Mexican inhabitants and which is planning to extend and/or build more than 40 hospitals this year.  The ISSEMYM is the state institution that gives Social Security to the state of Mexico (province and municipalities), representing a population of 14 million inhabitants.

Hospitals, health centres and clinics need to guarantee a stable, continuous and reliable power supply to all elements connected to the power, and especially those that make up its most critical equipment or equipment used in life-support.  They must therefore be provided with protection and continuity systems.  The need to have voltage stabiliser and uninterruptible power supply systems is therefore more obvious here than in other kinds of facilities.

The Mexican market was the first in which Salicru took the leap out of Europe in the 1990s. It is now a consolidated market that closed 2010 with the largest turnover of the American companies in which the company is set up.  In addition to the health sector, in the state of Mexico, Salicru products are used in other strategic sectors such as energy [Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) and Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX)], education [Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN)] and transport (Mexico City Underground Railway).
