Salicru has supplied 42 UPS, with an installed power capacity of 970 KVA, to the new Vinalopó Hospital (Elche-Crevillent Aspe area) inaugurated last June. The medical services for which they have been installed are primarily areas of vital assistance like operating theaters and communications racks, but they have also been installed in the dialysis unit, ICU, hemodynamics unit and the treatment room, among others.
Hospitals, health centers and clinics need to guarantee a stable, continuous and reliable supply to all of the elements connected to the electrical system, especially the most critical and vital assistance equipment. For this reason, they must have protection and continuity systems. Their need for voltage stabilizer and uninterrupted power supply systems is becoming more and more evident, if possible, than for other types of facilities.
In the event of network failures, the use of UPS in vital assistance areas such as operating theaters or procedures rooms prevents unexpectedly having to reset a large number of devices- some of which may be connected to patients. The conversion from the network to the emergency power supply may last between 9 and 18 seconds…seconds that may be vital!
Likewise, their integration in non-vital assistance services is also highly useful: one example is controlling each patient’s identification documentation such as their medical history which is supported by a computer system also requiring protection from possible overloads or outages that could endanger their storage in a hospital's general system.
