One of Mercadona’s missions is to minimise the impact of its stores on the local environment, which includes avoiding disturbance to the neighbours by not unnecessarily activating generators during a power cut. This is why the leading supermarket company equips all its centres with Salicru UPS systems, some of which offer 2 hours of autonomy, thus guaranteeing maximum peace and quiet for their immediate surroundings. In addition, all the supermarkets with generators have them connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply system that serves as the core of their energy redundancy setup.

Tailor-made solutions are designed to meet the specific power supply requirements of a particular application. For example, Salicru provides customised UPS systems to meet the specific requirements of the Bonpreu-Esclat supermarket chain. These systems are capable of reaching 1 hour of autonomy, with the added advantage of remote monitoring and management technology. Similar properties are offered by the UPS systems used by Ametller Origen and La Sirena supermarkets, which are supplied entirely by Salicru.

A green light for energy continuity

Salicru has been installing Uninterruptible Power Supply systems in the cities of Barcelona and Zaragoza since 2010 and 2009, respectively. In fact, these systems, the most recent of which are from the SLC TWIN RT3 range, protect 40% of the traffic lights in Barcelona, and this meant that many junctions remained operational for some time during the big blackout, reducing traffic chaos thanks, in addition, to the work of the City Police (Guardia Urbana) and the responsible behaviour of drivers. Striving for high levels of autonomy through the addition of battery modules, new storage technologies, and preventive maintenance has become a prerequisite for critical infrastructures.
