Salicru has supplied a total of 38 SLC-1000-TWIN RT uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to the Al Shehaniya Camel Race Track in Qatar.
The transaction was carried out by the Spanish company Sobatech Group, and the purpose of the equipment is to power different systems for the TV broadcasting of camel races at the race track.
The SLC-1000-TWIN RT units are used at the track as stabilisers to ensure a power supply in the event of disturbances and power cuts, and provide electrical protection to enclosures, control points and the circuit’s boxes.
All of the units are monitored in real time from the TV company’s main studios with Salicru software and have to operate in extreme conditions because, even though they are installed in refrigerated enclosures, the UPSs need to withstand temperatures of between 0ºC and 65ºC and humidity that can reach 100% in winter.
Camel racing is an ancient sport with a great tradition in Arab countries, followed with real passion by the general public, hence the interest in televising these types of sporting events.
