Salicru has launched a new version of its SLC TWIN RT2 series of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). The new SLC TWIN RT2 LION offers the most reliable on-line double conversion technology on the market, with an output power factor of PF=0.9 and a format that adapts to suit any tower/rack environment, plus a wide range of communication options.
The main innovation found in the Salicru SLC TWIN RT2 LION series is the use of lithium-ion batteries as a backup power source. They have numerous advantages over traditional valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries: their lifespan is more than double, they can accommodate up to 10 times more discharge cycles, their rate of self-discharge is four times lower, they can maintain their level of performance at high temperatures (40°C), they offer reduced weight and volume, and they can be recharged up to four times faster (among other advantages).
With regard to TCO, lithium-ion batteries have a longer useful life than the estimated working life of the UPS (10 years), meaning that unlike VRLA batteries, they do not need to be replaced after 4-5 years. Consequently, a slightly higher initial investment is converted into a significant saving by the time the system reaches the end of its life.
Adaptable to any edge computing environment, Salicru’s SLC TWIN RT2 LION series offers top-level security in a compact format with a wide range of communication options for IT servers, voice and data networks, video streaming, unified communications, document management and CAD/CAM.
The new SLC TWIN RT2 LION UPS is available in power ratings from 1,000 to 3,000 VA and can be mounted in both tower and rack formats, thanks to the adjustable display and the numerous accessories that are included with the system. It also comes with monitoring and management software for closing files and applications in Windows, Linux, Unix and Mac operating environments; a smart slot for connecting cards to enable SNMP integration or optocoupler signals; and USBHID-UPS functionality, which enables users to control the system, configure parameters and shut down or hibernate the computer via the USB port.
