Salicru has supplied its SLC ADAPT2 modular UPS systems and DC POWER-L rectifiers to the new Etihad Rail passenger service, a strategic infrastructure that marks the beginning of a new stage in the country’s rail mobility.
The United Arab Emirates has launched its first national passenger train service, Etihad Rail, which began operations on 30 June 2026. This project marks a milestone in the development of the country’s public transport and moves towards a rail network capable of connecting the seven emirates, with more efficient, comfortable and sustainable mobility.
Salicru has participated in this infrastructure by supplying SLC ADAPT2 modular UPS systems and DC POWER-L rectifiers, equipment designed to ensure electrical continuity and the availability of critical systems associated with the line. In railway environments, power supply protection is key to ensuring the operation of signalling, communications, control and auxiliary service systems, as well as reducing the risk of operational interruptions.
The first route connects Mohamed bin Zayed City station in Abu Dhabi with Al Hilal City in Fujairah. The journey takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes and currently has three daily services in each direction, as part of an initial operating phase that will serve as the basis for the progressive extension of the service.
The rollout will continue in phases, with Dubai and Al Dhaid stations expected to come into operation on 30 September, while Sharjah station is scheduled for 30 March 2027. Once the network is complete, Etihad Rail will connect the seven emirates, integrate with other public transport systems and be able to carry around 36.5 million passengers a year.
